Our journey

From a quarter acre to a continent of farmers

The AFarmers story so far - from a quarter-acre farm to a continent of farmers.

  1. 2007

A young seedling just emerged in the soil

A quarter acre at Athi River

It starts with 0.25 acres at Athi River, Machakos County - a working farm and the lessons, including the hard ones, that come with it.

  2. 2008

    Learning the market

  4. 2015 - 2017

A cabbage plant growing in the field

    Africa Farmers Club begins

The Africa Farmers Club starts on Facebook and grows into a community where farmers ask, answer and learn together.

  5. 2018

    Registered as a social enterprise

The organisation is legally registered, formalising work that had grown from the community.

  6. 2019

    The community passes 150,000 members

Club membership keeps climbing; press coverage follows, including a Food Tank feature on the founder.
